Do you wish you'd been paid for your virginity?

Is there a problem with offering one's virginity for sale online? A University student from Northland has sold her virginity at ineed.co.nz for $45'000, to fund her university tuition fees. The website has defended the listing, stating it was legal and the site did not place moral judgements on its members. Would you have liked financial benefits attached to your first sexual experience?

Her choice is an interesting one. Many of us have lost our virginity in other questionable ways (drunk, school ball, with someone who was a loser) and possibly didn't enjoy it or even remember it. I just hope that the person who won the prize is at least half decent. It would be ghastly to realise that the person you sold this part of your experience to was a child porn downloader, or a frequent visitor to Thailand for young kids, or had sick sexual wants that a first timer might not want to know about. I hope for her sake he is considerate, mature and experienced enough so she doesn't come away feeling less than pleased for the transaction.

Morally I Dont agree with what she did. I have daughters that become that age in not too distant future. However as a male I had to court and work extremly hard to lose my virginity. Yes a different generation, different times. I wouldnt have liked my chances of auctioning my virginity. $1 res maybe? However morally wrong in my books, shes a consenting adult and no laws have been broken. Hope she uses her pay check wisely.

it's ok for her to sell a product but it seems you losers are sore that you didn't have enough money to win. by the by why don't schools run classes in prostitution? i mean all genders are now involved and standards could be set imagine the number of applicants for the job of standard inspector

I am sure we all wish we had been as enterprising as that lady.

When the transaction is completed she is a prostitute.
One only needs to sell sex for money once to be entitled the label. Nothing wrong with that. It‘s a legitimate service. At least in law if not quite morality. She can then of course resign. End of story! ….(?)
If by chance, tuition fees do not remain the only financial hardship she encounters in life...and in light of her previous experience; alternative employment appear financially unsatisfactory to her; she may conclude it reasonable and sensible to revisit her previous employment.
After-all she is ahead in the "game", (her CV is light but outstanding) she associates sex with money intuitively and at this stage she’s in credit with youth; most desired commodities for this industry.. her brief notoriety may even attract rather than hinder future job prospects.
However, as she cannot command her virginity charge twice, time is of essence (life essence). She will learn (if not by her own intuition then certainly by a client’s statement) that as her youth fades so too does her fee.… and she may “feel” that quick money does not mean easy money, thou by now she agrees with its nature or she wouldn’t be doing it, and besides she doesn’t intend to be there that long anyway!
Seasoned workers may advise her that longevity requires a more desired quality than her previous assets…a need to disassociate from her emotions in order to work… a rare "natural" gift, more often than not, requires concentrated effort with practice (or sedatives); again not always equating to success.…the industry has its share of casualties in substance abuse units.
…If in the latter scenario (rehabilitation centre) and she survives her resignation…she may be asked (perhaps for the first time in her life) to re-associate the notion of love with sex. A concept so unhinging it may evoke a savage resistance for years to come and she will know loneliness as few others can.
...but hey...she doesn’t intend to be there that long anyway!

...eh.... and can I sell my menopause?

By ideal

It is the IDEA she is selling and the IDEA that is being sought so highly... that is so abhorrent. Not too far out of the realms of paedophilia....In that case we must all take responsibility.
