Do you feel secure on Facebook?

Do you know who can see your Facebook account and which parts?

A former Auckland postman has claimed he did not know his postings on the site could be read by the public. Lyndon Hohaia lost his job after bringing NZ Post into disrepute after he made "unflattering references" about a female colleague's body and crude remarks about some NZ Post customers on his page. He is currently claiming unjustified dismissal.

Is Facebook security too difficult to master or do you simply not post things on there that could end you up in trouble?

Nah! I've opened up a bit, myself, on FB, and nothing inconsequential or otherwise has come of it, in particular, nothing dirty, sinister, or nasty. Young or old folk, EVERYONE!!!. You have just got to remember, that what you're dislpaying on FB, AS A SOCIAL NETWORK!, will be seen by ALL and 100's, hence its popularity and phenomenon that it is. Just don't get toooooo!!!!!! carried away with information sharing, because that's all it is. Literally, sharing information. And we've all seen and heard what becomes of that! Be careful, sensible and wise in what you share, how and when. That's all it is. Really!

Lyndon Hohaia is a egg... Or of extra poor eduction standards... Did he not ever read any of his friends postings?? Even if he didn't it states very clearly when you sign up that it is public unless you choose to make it private.. I admit its a lot better now than what it was in doing that... Still makes me wonder why people sign up tho only to keep it private.. Anyway if he wrote something that bad he deserved to be fired over it maybe its better they did...

If she had brown skin & from South Auckland and was on legal aid and had unemployed parents .... would this be the same outcome for her?? I think not. Getting off a murder charge! WTF!!

I noticed the girl who ran from the police and killed the woman in her car had a FB page full of her on the alchohol and other celebrations. She is lucky the victim's family never saw it (or if they did already they are truly saints / I could not forgive). Even on the Campbell interview I felt Frances was 'all about her' but maybe I'm harsh.

One would agree with both Andrew Patterson and also with Don in regards to internet privacy as to where will it lead us to.As for FB I haven't used it that much nor do I belong to FB or any of those social group sites and instead only use the net for emails to Radio Live and possibly to MPs etc.The only problem I have at home is with my laptop computer and I need to get it reconnected so that I can use it for emails etc.

People need to realise without privacy measures set on Facebook. Your opening your life and behaviour to anyone. If this tickles your fancy you better act as though your speaking in Public. The social networking aspect is magic and further development will only bring us closer to communities we want to belong to.
