Do Asian cultures breed success?

Are people of Asian heritage more likely to succeed in New Zealand?

14-year-old Lydia Ko became the youngest female to ever win a pro golf tournament on Sunday. She trained 30 to 50 hours a week to push herself to her win.

Her coach, Guy Wilson, told Fairfax News that half the reason for her success is down to her Korean birth. "It's why you don't find too many successful Kiwi kids, because the work ethic isn't there," he said.

Do Asian cultures hold a stronger work-ethic?

I work with Asians and I see them work every weekend and public holiday and not one original NZ person can be seen anywhere. Eventually Asians will own and operate NZ and it will be a fight between Maori and Asian. The origin of Europeans in NZ will disappear - the funding of a race in NZ to have preferential treatment and consideration over those who colonised and developed a country is a world first.

Lets not forget, that for every successful, rich and intelligent Asian there are probably a thousand others who are in abject poverty and don't have this supreme "work ethic". We only get the high achieving ones because of immigration rules, i've been to China and the majority of Asians are not like Lydia. Good on her by the way. Of course you guys couldn't comment on race without trashing Maoris and P.Is - fact, the majority of Maoris have never been on a dole in their entire life. They work blue collar jobs and pay taxes their entire working life... how 15% becomes the majority and a common trait within a race is just a spin off of your own prejudice and ignorance. You Pakeha's love nothing more than a good Maori bash, here's another fact.. most Maoris don't give a rats arse what you think, you actually make yourself look small minded and insecure. Kiaora! lol Go hard Lydia, you're setting a great example. Just like Ngaa Ruuira.

Guy Wilson is right, work ethic or work attitude is very important. Asian kids are very motivated to progress themselves, they're not always waiting for money from their parents and they use the opportunities their parents created for them to excel. They know their parents have done a lot for them and they're willing to pay it back when their parents are old. Financially Poor parents also have good kids as they want to change this family situation and be better than their parents, then later generation is mainly better than previous generation. Another important thing is that no handouts from govt. Kids mainly learn from their hard working parents. Hard work always pays out.
