What is keeping me fascinated at the moment is the two church stories: The catholic priest who attacked a spy base to stop the intelligence being used to kill innocents; the other being Brian Tamaki's church and the discontents who have left because of excessive tithing. No surprises whose side I am on: The side of the principled. I am humbled by the courage of the guy with the sickle.
Tamaki, now that is a different story for me. He has every right to do what he does and seems to be doing it very well. Good on him. However, I have watched with interest the plight over the years of those blessed with charisma and self belief and, just like Icarus, they soon come back to earth. I don’t purport to be the oracle of new religions. All I can say is that I will be surprised if Destiny Church is still around in ten years. That is what happens with the cult of personality: It is also the cult of more and these people tend never to be satisfied. Until their craving for attention power and prestige undoes them. Watch this space.
