Michael,

Being on a Board of Trustees isn't a job. It's a totally-unpaid, no-perks after-hours volunteer service position.

So, if Anne Tolley fired them all, she'd have to find all the apparatchiks to replace them. And she'd have to PAY them out of taxpayer funds.

Anne Tolley's never been a teacher.

The position of principal is basically a dictator, the school is their feifdom and the board their vassals. The board will not hear complaints about the principal, since in essence they appointed them, and they have to support them. Do away with the boards, appoint a professional school manager, to manage the school.

Well I'm sorry to say that Jonnie is in fact wrong. Board of Trustee members are paid. They can choose not to be paid however the Government does pay around $55-60 per meeting that they attend, usually paid in one lump sum at the end of the year.
