Auckland port expansion plan

By RadioLIVE staff

Dramatic images released today show what Auckland harbour could end up looking like, if Super City plans to extend the port 250m are giving the go-ahead.

Ports of Auckland has requested the council give the green light to plans that will see the port area extended from 77ha to 95ha by the year 2055, reports the Herald.

Lobby group Heart of the City, however, has launched a campaign intended to educate Aucklanders on the plans before final approval in March.

The port company is less than impressed with the images, calling them "unprofessional and unbalanced".

Should this be given the green light without public consultation?
