Are the Maori Party making a principled stand over asset sales? Or it is simply blackmail?

The Maori Party are considering their options over the way the government is handling the sale of several State-owned Enterprises (SOEs). They say by removing the companies from sale from the State-owned Enterprises Act, the government is denying existence of the Treaty of Waitangi.

The Maori Party are threatening to walk away from the coalition over the issue.

Is the Maori Party acting in the best interests of New Zealand?
